Look who’s back: Gesaffelstein signs with Columbia Records

Since Gesaffelstein released his iconic Aleph LP in 2013, the French techno virtuoso has since laid down the soundtrack for the film Maryland as well as produced two track on The Weeknd‘s latest project, My Dear Melancholy.

Fans of Michel Lévy were flushed with fervor, however, after a few signs of his return emerged around the globe. The first was a series of recently-erected advertisements featuring his moniker flushed in gold and strewn across a stark black billboard. Then a renewed social media presence sent fans even further up in arms. His Facebook profile and cover photos changed, along with his website, which seemingly correlate with the vague billboard teasers.

It was becoming increasingly clear that a big announcement was near.

Now a press release from Columbia Records has confirmed that the label has taken on Gesaffelstein. The signing placed him in the company of Calvin Harris, Diplo, and Kaskade. The release itself fell in line with the characteristic obscurity of Lévy himself, stating “GESAFFELSTEIN SIGNS TO COLUMBIA RECORDS.”

At the current time, it remains unclear what exactly Gesaffelstein has on the horizon as far as new material. Fans are clutching their hearts that the new campaign may be the first signs of Gesaffelstein teasing a sophomore album in the near future. Lévy’s new deal with the powerhouse label surely yield some imminent return — and it’s going to be larger than life.
