Five cant-miss artists to catch at the first annual Ubbi Dubbi Festival
After a hard letdown with the cancellation of Texas spring festival Something Wonderful, Disco Donnie has come back with a bass-infused lineup for the very first-of-it’s-kind Ubbi Dubbi Festival. The two day event, taking place this weekend, April 27-28, will be held at Fort Worth’s Panther Island Pavilion. With an eye-popping line-up that includes artists such as Boombox Cartel, Borgore, Galantis, Ganja White Night, Illenium, Keys N Krates, Tchami, Zeds Dead, and many more, it’s hard to decide on which exact acts to see. That’s where Conscious Electronic comes in to help raise awareness on this artist spotlight series.
From established veterans to artists swiftly rising in the ranks, we are highlighting some of the must-see acts on Ubbi Dubbi’s lineup in this Artists to Catch series.
5) Chris Lake
The first artist to catch is British electronic producer Chris Lake, known for his wide ranging discography spanning many sub genres of house. Lake has long made his mark on the EDM community with many iconic collaborations under his belt, including well-respected producers Steve Aoki, and Deadmau5. Let’s not forget about Lake’s viral Calvin Harris “How Deep Is Your Love” remix. Not to mention, his Anti-Up duetted project with Chris Lorenzo has been takig festivals by storm this year.
In 2002, Lake released a bootleg remix of the Prodigy along with his first original single, “Santiaga de Cuba.” The two statement-making efforts sparked a firestorm of interest from his peers in the house scene at the time, and the rest is history. Fast forward 15 years and Lake signed to Skrillex’s OWSLA label skyrocketing his success.
To gain a better understanding of Chris Lake’s style, listen to his OWSLA debut single “I Want You.” The track is a prime example of Lake’s ability to translate simple, catchy vocals into a contagious, all-consuming dance experience. His style is traditional in structure, but effortlessly unique in the utilization of synths and vocals.

4) PEEKABOO
The second artist to catch on our list is rising bass-enthusiast Matthew Lucas, also known by his stage name PEEKABOO. This go-getter began producing in the realm of house music back in high school and quickly changed gears and began to evolve in the underground bass movement. In 2017, PEEKABOO released an EP, titled Revenge, wherein he debuted his famous track “Wobbly”—a tune that would become his golden ticket to noteriety.
Bass music demigod Bassnectar soon picked up the track and played it during his Electric Forest set, giving PEEKABOO’s music a monumental platform and kickstarting his surging popularity. PEEKABOO went on to contribute to Bassnectar’s Reflective Pt. 2 EP. The track was a seismic crowd pleaser that would lead to a follow up effort, titled “Illusion,” out now on Reflective Pt. 4.
As PEEKABOO’s fanbase began to rampantly grow with his live shows picked up in frequency, Lucas’ signature space-bass style began to develop. In May of 2018, he released the Imposters EP via Liquid Stranger‘s WAKAAN label, setting him up for major success. 3) DROELOE
Dutch producer Vincent Rooijers and visual designer Hein Hamers are DROELOE. Early 2016 Is when they caught the ear of San Holo, who brought them aboard his bitbird imprint, At bitbird, the pair would release a string of successful single releases in “Make My Day” and “zZz.”
Later down the road, the duo went out to explore releasing on other indie labels from Lowly Palace to Monstercat. But eventually DROELOE would return to their label home at bitbird to release their debut Moment In Time EP. The duo has earned the respect of many well known DJs who’ve been dropping their unique trap and bass tracks across festival stages the world over. However, it is in one of DROELOE’s original sets where the magic truly comes life, weaving sonically and visually intricate storylines throughout.

2) Said The Sky
Playing piano and various instruments since the age of eight, Colorado native Trevor Christensen is the humble guy behind Said The Sky’s ascendant musical project. More than a moniker, the Said The Sky experience is as beautiful and hopeful as his name suggests. His music brings a captivating blend of moving basslines and soaring melodies strewn across a melodic canvas of downtempo and dubstep drops.
With Beyond Wonderland and Buku already under his belt, Said The Sky still gearing up for a ton of festivals in 2019, from Lollapolooza, Electric Forest, and Electric Zoo to Disco Donnie’s Tampa-adjacent rave event, Sunset Music Festival. 1) Lucii
Lucii is an otherworldly creator of intergalactic sounds falling into the unique genre of Space Bass. Also known as Emily Rose, the Orlando-based up-and-comer has just found her home at Wakaan, gaining support from the likes of Liquid Stanger, Conrank, The Widdler, CloZee, and many more along the way.
Listen to Lucii’s debut single on Wakaan, titled “Neptune,” which is sure to capture with its powerfully meandering bassline weight, uplifting top-line melody, and overall ethereal vibe that is hard to forget.
