ChuckDiesel blends urban life with classic dubstep on ‘The Lot’ [Premiere]
Anyone who follows CE knows our outlet has a huge soft spot for bass music and emerging bass artists in the scene. Hailing currently from Cincinnati, but growing up on the streets of NYC and Cleveland, ChuckDiesel is one of those artists we have an eye on. He’s supported everyone from Flux Pavilion, Porter Robinson, and Mr. Carmack to Buku, Of The Trees, Jantsen, and more.
Yet, what makes ChuckDiesel’s sonic imprint stand on its own is how this industry newcomer infuses his bass-heavy timelines with hip-hop influences, creating immersive experiences that truly locks in his listeners. Speaking to his newest release, “The Lot,” Diesel tells CE,
“This track just brings me back to my roots of growing up in the hood. Urban life is tough and comes at you quick whether you are ready for it or not, and I feel like that’s what this track represents. I also wanted to dig back into the early stages of dubstep when that raw big synth sound was king! I just wanna bring bass music and dubstep back to the roots where it began.”
A short, sweet, and synth-laden track, layered with a raw freestyle flow, “The Lot” is the first single release off of ChuckDiesel’s incoming album, Hopscotch Vol. 1. If the full album is anything like this first single release—from the see-saw synths kicking off the first drop to the song’s slow release drop-off—then the full LP is bound to be a nod to growing up on the streets. It’s a theme that is as true to hip-hop’s roots as it is to ChuckDiesel’s mission with his electronic sound stamp.
Listen to “The Lot” below and stay tuned for ChuckDiesel’s full album release, Hopscotch Vol. 1, landing on April 10.
