MYRNE and Manila Killa release thought-provoking music video for ‘Where Do We Go From Here’ [WATCH]

If one didn’t know any better, it would appear that Manila Killa is courting a new duetted project alongside MYRNE. After having dropped out of his Hotel Garuda project a couple years back to pursue his “own solo career,” he has rather outwardly become akin to the Singaporean producer’s complimentary sound. Now, on the heels of their newly-released Fluorescence EP on Ultra Records, the two ask “Where Do We Go From Here” in an official music video  that is inspirational, emotionally stirring, and thought-provoking.

With the EP’s central message being one of growth, perseverance in the face of loss, and finding escape in passion, the music video is set in modern, traditional Japanese society with the main character living with her grandmother. The two provide a contrasting take on the stages of grief from the recent passing of their mother/daughter, respectively; as viewers should deduce from the the young girl rebelling and grieving.

She bought a pet fish because she feels tragically alone and she needs someone that is alone as her; the fish can live and survive on its own and he doesn’t speak or do anything that can judge her. She doesn’t think her grandmother knows her pain or is hurting the same way she is and learns to cope with the thoughts of her mother by finding her release through dance. The fish also doubles as tribute to Qinni, a 4x open heart surgery survivor and one of MYRNE’s favorite artists, who recently passed.

The story continues in the next video that shares the grandmother’s dealings with grief.
