Strafe x Justin Martin – Set It Off Remixes

One of the tracks that laid the foundation for early eighties NYC garage was Strafe’s “Set It Off.” Now Dirtybird co-founder Justin Martin has revived the anthem in his bold and rambunctious 2-track remix pack.

Both sides of Martin’s Set It Off Remixes provide the perfect balance between contemporary vision with pure homage to the past. The first track pays respect to Strafe’s gritty, vintage basslines while layering familiar Dirtybird elements on top. A more lengthy take, the second track takes Strafe’s classic into new and rollicking terrain as Martin builds more space around the track, imbuing it with a playful and experimental deep house vibe. Both tracks show off Martin’s deep appreciation and familiarity with the 35-year-old anthem.

The remix project arrives while Justin Martin is knee-deep in his three-month-long Set It Off tour, which is hitting major US cities right now (see dates here).
