RL Grime to launch first record label, Sable Valley
It seems the next step to be becoming a true dance music mogul is fashioning one’s own independent music label. As is the case with countless pioneers—from Bassnectar’s Amorphous Music and Kaskade’s Arkade imprint, to Above & Beyond’s two label nests, Ajunabeats and Anjunadeep, to Martin Garrix and his STMPD imprint and Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, and so many more.
We’ve also seen new imprints sprouting up from rising stars Snails (Slugz Music), Jauz (Bite This), RÜFÜS DU SOL (Rose Avenue), and SNBRN (Apollo Records). The time for RL Grime to join the pack is now, as the trap/grime pioneer has shared news that he’s forming a new music label called Sable Valley.
RL Grime took to his socials to share a few cryptic announcements regarding the launch of the label. First, he hints at the first release on the label, “Arcus,” an unreleased collaboration with Graves that RL features at the end of his Halloween VII mix.
Next, he shared an “orientation video” that promises to deliver a “new type of auditory experience.” Time will only tell as to what kind of talent RL Grime will bring to his soon-to-be minted imprint. For now, fans can watch the video to get more details about RL’s next major step as an artist and a label founder.
