The famed Meow Wolf, part music venue, part interactive psychedelic experience, has exploded onto the music and art scene over the past few years. Since the Taos, New Mexico headquarters opened in 2016, artists and fans alike have expressed their amazement at what it’s like to immerse themselves in the psychedelic funhouse grounds firsthand. So much so that the art collective, founded in 2008, is planning to expand into Denver, Austin, Las Vegas, and Washington DC in the coming years.

Before they grow outwards, Meow Wolf decided last year to level up the current operation in New Mexico. The three-day Taos Vortex festival was born, boasting an impressive and varied music lineup alongside eye-popping art and interactive pieces. For their second annual installment, held August 16-18, Taos Vortex brings another eclectic bill.

Flying Lotus in 3D, a Claude VonStroke and Barclay Crewnshaw doubleheader, George Clinton, ZHU, Justin Martin, G Jones, and the Desert Hearts crew are all among the musical talent that will be holding down the sonic vibes. The undercard is just as impressive, with Justin Jay‘s Fantastic Voyage hitting the stage, along with Mija, Medasin, graves, Josh Pan, and many more.

As for what’s in store for the surrealist art installments to accompany the music, only time will tell. One thing is for certain: If it’s anything like last year’s inaugural edition, it’s bound to be memorable and mind-bending.

Passes to Taos Vortex are available online on the event’s official website.
