SLANDER teams with Kompany on an anthem for tumultuous relationships, ‘Broken’

Hot off the heels of their Alchemy tour kick-off in Long Beach, California, SLANDER is poised for massive success in 2019. As pioneers of the heaven trap movement, coupled with the deeply diverse discography they’ve developed over the years, the LA-based duo has proven time and again to be on the cutting-edge of crafting new electronic sounds that always delight and surprise. This year alone, SLANDER has released wildly popular collaborations with Said the Sky, Dylan Matthews, and Gryffin — all of which explore their softer, feel-good, melodic sonic terrain.

Now, SLANDER has teamed up with fellow Los Angeles producer, Kompany, whose heavy bass resumé includes releases on Never Say Die and touring with Dirt Monkey and Bear Grillz. So, naturally, the product represents the perfect balance between SLANDER’s softer side and Kompany’s immensely aggressive dubstep/riddim stamp. With swelling builds and feel-good lyrics that lead into tumultuous drops, and vocals from FKNSYD that match the aggression, the track paints a colorfully stark contrast between the gentle and the hard. The single, by way of its very songwriting and stylistic composition, mirrors a unhealthy relationship on egg shells as it drastically oscillates between loving and toxic at the drop of a hat.
