Boogie T.rio releases smooth and soulful 3-track EP, ‘Three The People’
Hailing from New Orleans, Boogie T.RIO is a side project of dubstep producer Boogie T, keyboardist Andrew “Yano” Yanovski, and drummer Frank Castro. The long-time friends and three-piece first assembled at Electric Forest and, since their 2018 debut, have been a big hit funky mainstay in the electronic music community. Now Boogie T.RIO is back with a new EP, dubbed Three The People.
The three-track short player fully embraces the Boogie T-led trio’s funk-rock sound, which is still in its infancy. From the EP’s opening track, “Said It All,” all the way until the reggae-inspired closing track, “Too Thick to Bleed,” the vocally-heavy project represents the perfect fusion of psychedelic rock, funk, and dubstep. Not to mention, Three The People spotlights each members’ talents perfectly with crooning guitar solos, exciting drum breaks, and, of course, Boogie T’s soul-filled lyrical work all paving the way.
In addition to three powerful new tracks, the group has put together a visual element for the track “Far” with the help of visual artist, Kooz, aka Joshua Stewart. Dive into the world of Boogie T.RIO with this fun and trippy animated video set in the group’s hometown of New Orleans. Sitting at the crossroads between GRiZ‘s dubstep-infused future funk and the reggae-inspired jamtronica stylings of Slightly Stoopid and Stick Figure, the Boogie T.RIO sound has identified a wholly underexplored section in electronic music that needs filling in. No wonder the three-piece was invited to open for GRiZ this weekend at his two-night Red Rocks run.
