Whethan has finally delivered his long-awaited remix of Foster The People’s chart-smashing hit, “Pumped Up Kicks.” The remix, whose original has amassed close to a billion Spotify streams, faced a variety of road blocks with major label clearances, according to Whethan over his Twitter. It also mark Whethan’s first release since the Chicago-based producer announced a mental health break that led to cancellations over his tour dates in the US and Australia.
Known for his incredible flips, Whethan pumps up the timeless classic to anthemic appeal. Equipped with infectious house rhythms, indie-pop progressions, and four-to-the-floor kick snares, the remix soars right to the top of Whethan’s already-impressive remix catalogue. Before the year is up, Whethan plans to put out an entire remix package before the year is up. He’s also touted collaborative efforts with NGHTMRE, RL GRIME, Alison Wonderland over the past year, so 2020 is bound to be a landmark year for the young electronic music sensation.
