Goopsteppa plays sunrise set for crowd at earth stage oregon eclipse

Midweek Mantra Mix 047: Relive Goopsteppa’s sunrise set from Oregon Eclipse’s earth stage

Wednesday is humpday, which not only marks the halfway point between the work week and the coveted weekend, but also Conscious Electronic’Midweek Mantra Mix (M3). We’ve been scouring the web’s most enlightening bass music mixes that align with our vision, to provide “a conscious way to consume dance music.” M3 spotlights both veteran and up-and-coming bass music artists whose music seeks to raise the vibrations of their collective listener base.

With so many of the world’s top festivals calling off their 2020 iterations due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, one of the motherloads is facing an untimely crisis as well. The Global Eclipse in Patagonia, which is currently set to kick off December 14, 2020 in Argentina, is currently facing uncertain times. For those who were blessed enough to attend the life-changing Oregon Eclipse Gathering, the news comes with as much anxiety as uncertainty over a global phenomenon that only comes around once every four years.

Still, recent unfortunate events leave no reason as to why festival fanatics should not celebrate and remember the past. At 2017’s Oregon Eclipse, one particularly memorable set for bass music aficionados came care of Montreal-bred low-end maestro, Goopsteppa. Producing cutting-edge free form bass music since the spring of 2013, Goopsteppa (aka Alex E.) has made a career for himself blending futuristic melodic bass music, subversive soundscapes, captivating beats, and surreal textures.

Armed with a fascination with electronic music culture since 2007, Goopsteppa’s passion for the scene led to an appearance on Seattle-based Mycelium Music, followed by releases on the Luminosity Project winter solstice compilation, and an EP on bay area’s Street Ritual Records. After appearing at various events throughout the western US and Canada, as well as Austin and at Burning Man’s Fractal Planet, Goopsteppa’s sonic footprint took him to countless 2019 festivals, including The Untz, Arise, Quasar, Solasta, and Okeechobee, to name a few.

Before any of that, though, Goopsteppa’s adventures led him to a groundbreaking sunrise performance at 2017’s Oregon Eclipse. On this Wednesday morning after the earth’s most pristine natural phenomenon, Goopsteppa took to the decks of the Earth Stage immediately following fellow hometown hero ATTYA. Goopsteppa proceeded to bless the crowd with a mix of his own classic tracks, choice remixes, and blended selections from his then-brand-new album, Through the Dark.

The set was among four other appearances that Goopsteppa made over the week-long gathering in the Ochoco National Forest, just outside of Oregon’s famed Mount Hood. However, it was the Eclipse sunrise set which benevolently stands out in the minds of attendees as a wandering journey deep into canals of consciousness, through the valleys of the physical body, and into the troughs of the ethereal soul. Due to its purely expeditious dive into the metaphysical, Goopsteppa’s 2017 Oregon Eclipse sunrise set makes for the perfect addition to CE‘s Midweek Mantra Mix.
