Many EDM fans have learned to mark the changing seasons with the arrival of a Lane 8 season mixtape. Just as the world was yearning for another of his infamous offerings, Lane 8 has delivered just in time to welcome in summer 2021 appropriately. The This Never Happened label head’s newest Summer 2021 Mixtape comes after a bevy of lineup announcements have been providing a light out of a COVID-stricken world and into the sunny, summer festival season.

Warm, energizing, and inviting, the four-hour-long sonic journey touches down into deep house and progressive territory, as is to be expected. However, for the first time in a long time, Lane 8 has provided a tracklist to accompany the mix— with not one, not two, but a whopping 20 IDs to fuel his listener’s imagination and get them excited to see the vaulted material delivered live over the next few months. It’s certainly setting the stage for Lane 8’s Red Rocks headlining debut perfectly, which won’t come around until October 15.

Along with the plentitude of unreleased gems, Lane 8 takes fans through tracks from some of his favorites, including Massane, Monolink, Icarus, Luttrell, and more, and inclusions from stars likes Nora En Pure, Amelie Lens, and Claptone. All in all, this one comes together as a mixtape that encourages listeners to relax, slow down, celebrate, and loosen up. Along the way, he once again captures the full ethos of summertime bliss in a time capsule.
