Watch Swedish House Mafia & Ty Dolla $ign perform ‘Lifetime’ live on The Tonight Show

To promote their newest single to the masses, Swedish House Mafia (SHM), Ty Dolla $ign, and 070 Shake performed “Lifetime” live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week. Following the release of “It Gets Better” the week prior, the new powerhouse collaboration is the second from SHM’s epic return, which was slated for last year but then postponed due to the pandemic.

In a new interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1, the group opened up about “Lifetime” and its ties to a new album in the works. “It has substance, it’s depth. It’s like, Swedish House Mafia into a blender,” Steve Angello said. “This is what happens with this whole new album, man. It is a lot of things.”

“It’s 100% feel. I think this was the time where we sat down and we were just throwing ideas at each other of what kind of music we like, and this is boiling everything down to like, ‘What did we feel?’ We came to a place, especially with this song, you feel great. It’s like, listen to the song, put on headphones, be in the subway, drive a car, go on a fucking walk. Do whatever you want. This is going to make… it’s feels.”

“Lifetime” also comes as a full-circle moment for Ty Dolla $ign, who’s 2011 song, “All Star,” famously sampled Swedish House Mafia’s iconic track “One.” Speaking to their choice to include the Grammy-nominated R&B singer, Sebastian Ingrosso said Ty Dolla $ign’s voice was “perfect.”

“We love Ty Dolla $ign. We loved him from very, very beginning. We actually talked to him kind of 10 years ago doing something because he did a remix of ‘One’ that came out on YouTube, I think, something like that. “So we always had Ty Dolla $ign in mind…”

The three-piece also spoke with Zane Lowe on collaborating with 070 Shake.

“For us, we’ve never experienced an artist like her. She’s so far away from formula, but she’s right at center of youth and we just love her, the energy, the vibe she has, the artistic integrity, everything about her is so unique, you know? We were talking earlier and it’s like, she’s the person we…if we could choose, we would put her on every single record we did. She’s incredible. She’s incredible, and I think we’re all huge fans of her. And we’re so blessed to work with her and her delivery on that record is amazing.”
