Mr Skinnylegs - Survival of the Weakest EP

UK producer Mr Skinnylegs unveils debut EP, ‘Survival of the Weakest’

Mr Skinnylegs has been a life-long lover and producer of music. From honing his skills on vinyl turntables at age twelve to recording a grime mixtape with friends at 16, much of his youth was spent exploring and experimenting with music. Now fully immersing himself into the world of house and techno, with influences that pull on Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, and more, the UK artist releases his debut EP in Survival of the Weakest.

Offering a different perspective on the last two years back and forth between lockdowns, the project brings the dark together with the light in this six-track exploration of time and sound. Writing much of the EP at a time when the world felt like it had been turned upside down, Survival of the Weakest explores relatable themes and motifs of our times and mixes them with high-level technical production. From the Disclosure adjacent tune “Another World” to his Avicii-inspired number “Get Closer” and more, Mr Skinnylegs leans into his inspirations. By the end of the project, listeners will see Mr Skinnylegs as the deliverer of electronica at an elevated level.

Mr Skinnylegs studied music technology as a teen and, after a musical hiatus, returned to creating music when he was 25. His return to music saw the twenty-something DJ/producer drawn to electronic beats, writing his first house track in 2017, featuring vocals from Paul Morrissey. This is one of the songs to feature on his debut EP and is the only track to have been written pre-pandemic. Having explored a variety of genres, Mr Skinnylegs has developed a sound that is diverse and versatile, and nowhere does his decisive style shine more than on this six-track short player.
