2018 has been a transformative year for mega-producer Diplo. After stepping away from writing and producing radio-ready pop hits with Justin Bieber, and putting his Jack Ü project with Skrillex to bed, Diplo is stepping into more experimental spaces. With exploration and expansion in mind, Diplo started off the year with the announcement of his Silk City disco project with Mark Ronson. In spring, Diplo followed up on this quest with his first solo work in four years on the California EP.

Now Diplo reveals his newest venture in the psychedelic side-project formed alongside Sia and Labrinth. They’re calling themselves LSD, a moniker derived from combing the group members’ first initials, but one that ultimately offers a word play on the project’s charmingly psychedelic theme.

Today, the new power pop/R&B/electronic trio drop off their lead single, “Genius,” from the trio’s upcoming debut album. The track sees Labrinth and Sia switching syncopated verses over catchy hip-hop beat work care of Diplo. Diplo describes their sound best over his Twitter page, calling the single “epic random amazing pop music from outer space. Diplo and Sia have already proven to be palatable pairing, and now with the addition of Labrinth, who’s reportedly wrapping up his sophomore studio album, LSD is shaping up to be a massively successful summer
