Listen to Excision & Illenium’s high-profile collaboration, ‘Gold (Stupid Love)’

When Illenium surprised EDC Las Vegas with a jaw-dropping heavy bass cut of the then-unreleased collaboration with Excision, fans of the Denver-based melodic bass producer were left at the Cosmic Meadow stage with their hearts in their hands and their jaws on the floor. Now, after much viral marketing for the track, the two bass music aficionados have come full circle with their track, titled “Gold (Stupid Love),” out now on Excision’s Caption Records.

“Gold (Stupid Love)” blends the two producer’s distinctive and divergent styles for a full spectrum sampling of bass music — from melodic lead-ins and builds to heavy, synth-laden drops. While the track features stand out influences from Excision, it’s readily apparent that Illenium’s heartfelt touches are much more laden on the track overall.

Expect to hear the track played at Excision’s Lost Lands music festival, held this September 14-17 in Thornhill, Ohio. Despite that Excision’s second annual event has received much flack for an overly recycled line-up, Illenium’s presence is on the bill is one repeat headliner that fans are surely not complaining over. While expectations nearly always lead to feelings of disappointment and failure, would it not be too much to ask for a surprise guest appearance in one or the other’s set?
