Despite the industry coming to all but a standstill amidst the pandemic, this year has been nothing short of fruitful for the prolific French producer. In July, CloZee followed up her transcendental 2018 debut, Evasion, with the highly-anticipated Neon Jungle to raving reviews. She has since kept busy with a slew of high profile remixes, and now, she’s tapping into her circle to give her latest music their unique spin.
Most recently, frequent collaborator OPIUO gave his treatment to the cinematic, ODESZA-inspired “Heya.” Swapping lush brass for crunchy breakbeats, the Kiwi producer strikes a tasteful balance, careful to not step on the track’s delicate interludes while infusing his signature grit for a deliciously glitchy groove.
The track was released ahead of Neon Jungle Remixes, a full-length record dedicated to the many reimagined takes of CloZee’s critically-acclaimed sophomore album. Earlier this month, house-head Lane 8 revealed his club-ready version of the title track, Neon Jungle. Due for release this Friday, October 30, the full remix collection will also feature reworks from Emancipator, il:lo, the mysterious Tripp St., and more.
