Steve Angello confirms Swedish House Mafia are back in the studio

No more cryptic messaging. No more “surprise” festival mainstage appearances. No more viral marketing or rumor mill musings over whether Swedish House Mafia is returning to the studio.

Sure, a return seemed to be all-but-officially confirmed — in the vaguest sense of the term. In March, fans already spotted original IDs when the Swedish superstar trio closed out Ultra‘s 20th anniversary with a main stage spectacle performance. Ingrosso told the crowd, “We’re Swedish Mafia for good this time.”

Then, in May, Axwell Λ Ingrosso hinted to a sold-out crowd in New York that SHM would be returning to the city in 2019. “I don’t know if they’re ready for Swedish House Mafia in 2019 in New York,” they said during their set.

To cap it off, Steve Angello told Swedish publication Sydsvenskan in June: “It’s happening. Obviously. Not all the details are set, but we’re back in 2019.” The only missing piece was whether the return would mean a tour or a full-fledged return to music making.

Now Steve Angello has put the speculation to rest. The Size Records founder recently spoke with another Swedish news outlet Dagens Nyheter, revealing new SHM music is imminent:

“Yes, absolutely, Swedish House Mafia is back. Now during summer everyone is traveling a lot, but we’ve entered the studio. I can’t really say much more, but we’ve decided that: ‘Here we go.’”

No more begging the question. No more tap dancing around the truth. It’s happening.
