MUST LISTEN: RÜFÜS DU SOL shares their opulent two-hour Burning Man set
If ever there were the perfect vibe for Burning Man, it’s RÜFÜS DU SOL set in the blistering daytime hours of the playa. Not only does their latest Solace LP fit subtlely into the sonic terrain of “desert” or “playa house,” as Burners dub the genre. In addition, the indietronica trio’s recent relocation to Los Angeles has geographically positioned the Aussies to be able to experience the thrills and frills of Black Rock City for years to come.
“Thank you to all the beautiful dancers and generous characters who made our first burn what it was. Opulent Temple, Robot Heart, DoLab and every other collective who hustled out there to make the city thrive – we love you folks. We’re little older and a touch wiser for the experience. We will be back,” says the trio of the experience.
In the nearly two-hour-long live set recording, RÜFÜS DU SOL showcase their true understanding of Burner culture with funkier, more tribal elements than fans are used to hearing from their live tour. The set, which took place at the Opulent Temple party at Sonic Soul Tribe, was considered a Burning Man highlight, as evidenced by a heart-felt video the group recently posted to Facebook. The set represents a journey from beginning to end, with long drawn-out progressions, tech house beats, tribal dance rhythms, and pre-recorded instrumental sampling from the guys guiding the way.
Other standout sets from Burning Man 2019 included Carl Cox’s Opulent Temple set and, of course, Tycho’s Inversion sunrise set. Experience the journey of self-discovery from RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Opulent Temple party set below.
