It’s been some time since 1788-L has graced fans with a new remix… and for good reason.

The Dallas-based producer was busy working on his sweltering S E N T I E N C E EP on Zeds Dead‘s Deadbeats imprint. Now everyone’s favorite enigmatic producer returns to the fore with an explosive new remix of The Glitch Mob‘s “Disintegrate Slowly.”

The release serves as 1788-L’s sizzling contribution to The Glitch Mob’s deluxe edition of their See Without Eyes LP, further reminding the dance music world of his penchant for turning tracks on their head.

Holding onto the original’s glitch-heavy breakbeats, experimental undertones, and cinematic energy, 1788-L’s rendition takes “Disintegrate Slowly” into unmapped territory. He builds the entire track around a sped-up tempo, adds in an even grittier bass line, and a twangy synth-led guitar riff — and that’s all before the song’s first drop. The track then explodes into a REZZ-adjacent breakdown, before ending with a harmonious and serene violin outro that feels like coming up for air.

1788’s rendition not only places him well in the company of the remix album’s heavy hitters, it also marks his most audacious flip to date.
