GRiZ’s fifth annual ’12 Days of GRiZMAS’ to support Detroit public school music education
Although he’s retreated into solace this past year, Grant Kwiecinski is no stranger to a strong work ethic. In fact, one reason for his decided social media fast was to give himself fully over to his upcoming album project. But now GRiZ is back with two new tracks, an end-of-year celebration, and now the return of his annual “12 Days of GRiZMAS” fundraiser.
Standing as the pinnacle of GRiZ’s mission — “show love, spread love” — the charity event has raised over $30,000 in the past for national non-profits that fund music education in American public schools.
Growing up in the progressive vessel of Detroit’s music scene, the city undoubtedly shaped his musical repertoire. To give back, and get back to his roots, he’s dedicated his last five years to helping shape young musicians of the future.
Running from December 4 through December 15, this year’s 12-day fundraiser will include caroling, community service, an evening at Barcade, yoga, bowling, a mic night, and more — with 100% of the proceeds going towards increasing access to music education in Detroit’s public schools.
The event will culminate in a two-day GRiZMAS celebration concert, held inside Detroit’s Masonic Temple, December 14 – 15. The powerhouse fifteen-piece GRiZ Live Band will throw down for a jam-filled night one, with GRiZ taking over the decks for a more traditional set on night two. Tickets are available now.
