It’s hard to say whose had a better year in electronic music more than Rüfüs Du Sol. The Australian three-piece indietronica band has released what could easily go down as the year’s top album in their third studio effort, Solace.
This past weekend, the newly US-residents took to the airwaves at BBC Radio 1 to deliver their first-ever Essential Mix. The guest spot covers the full range of music that has been motivating and inspiring them as of late, including Icarus’ beautiful remix of Martin Solveig’s “Places,” a mashup of Joeski’s “Need You More” and Bicep’s “Drift,” and Cassian‘s debut track on the group’s newly-formed Ross Avenue imprint, “Lafayette.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Rüfüs mix without their seminal track “Interbloom,” a VIP club edit of their Solace track, “Eyes,” and an Adam Port remix of “Underwater.” Put simply, the spot is two full hours of mellow, organic house bliss.

It’s happening! This weekend Pete Tong has handed us the keys to the essential mix on @bbcradio1. We’ve been listening to these mixes for as long as we’ve been listening to dance music, so it’s a big moment for us. We used this mix to create a sonic map of music that we love & have been influenced by, hope you enjoy it. Big love to @petetongofficial for having us 🌙 @bbcessentialmix
