Ekali and 1788-L unleash highly-anticipated single, ‘RUIN’
Although 1788-L has experienced a meteoric rise over the past year, Ekali took the Dallas-based producer to newer heights on his Crystal Eyes tour. The anonymous producer, who’d been turning heads left and right with his remix of Virtual Self’s “Particle Arts,” then released a mind-boggling debut EP, SENTIENCE, via Deadbeats. So it was widely known that the two artists had been working together, with constant teasers of the track revealed live over the past few months. Now the fruits of their labor can be seen in the final studio-mastered version of “RUIN.”
Experience a fusion of glitched-out electro beats and melodic gestures as it’s accompanied by an outburst of triggering and crescendoing frequencies. Subtle ambient melodies speak halfway through the tune bringing a sense of balance before a drum and bass build-up ignites the approaching drop, clarifying change. The entirety of the track is uniquely profound and full of mystery, much like the two producers themselves. That’s why Conscious Electronic named them both Ones To Watch in 2019.
