MUST LISTEN: Zeds Dead lends new flavor to Diplo, Ellie Goulding, & Swae Lee’s ‘Close To Me’

Toronto-based duo and Deadbeats bosses Zeds Dead have been putting out impressive remixes of currently trending tunes for years. After releasing a sickening remix “bury a friend” by rising star Billie Eilish just last month, the boys are back with another fan-favorite take on a high-powered EDM crossover collaboration. The track, “Close To Me,” was one of last fall’s most-anticipated releases from electronic music’s most loved female vocalists Ellie Goulding, rising rapper Swae Lee, and mogul producer and serial collaborator Diplo.

“Close To Me” has been climbing the pop charts since its October 2018 release, debuting at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, and peaking last week at No. 2. That’s all thanks to Zeds Dead no doubt, who’s remixed rendition brings the track to its cutting edge, especially for the fans that crave the bass.

Zeds Dead’s cut keeps the same infectious lyrics as the spotlight but turn Goulding’s vocals up a notch to give the song a heavy, crunchy kick. Then, illuminating synths are added on the lead up to the remix’s drop, further highlighting the song’s beautiful melody and bringing out its full body. With a finale drop that takes its flavor straight from Zeds Dead’s sound wheelhouse, the remix is sure to be a staple of the boys’ summer sets at festivals the world over.
