When you’re musicians and best buds for life, the collaborations just seem to flow like water. In the case of Denver’s Said The Sky and ILLENIUM, they fall more like waterfalls. As the on-stage personas of Trevor Christiansen and Nick Miller, respectively, these long-time friends have been co-creating long before they were household names in the melodic bass scene.

Arriving as their 11th collaborative track, the two have now shared “Walk Me Home” as the final preview to Said The Sky’s next album release, which lands next week. They called on singer/songwriter Chelsea Cutler of Westport, Connecticut, whom Christiansen said he’d been wanting to work with on a song for a very long time.

“I couldn’t be happier to finally have had what feels like the perfect opportunity to do so, ” Said The Sky continues, “This song means so much to us, and I’m so so happy to see so many of you already connecting with it.”

Christiansen reflects more on how the track came together from when the world first went into lockdown:

“I remember starting this song at the beginning of the pandemic. It was super super late one night and I had this progression in mind on the acoustic. I played it for Annika and she immediately started humming what ended up being the chorus melody for ‘Walk Me Home.’ The rest of the song was an absolutely blast to put together, from working with Nick on the second half and getting the production to what you’re hearing now, to eventually hearing Chelsea’s incredible voice sing this song we already loved so much and bring it to life.”

With enough collaborative tracks to date between Illenium and Said The Sky that they could fill an entire album, plus countless remixes, unreleased live edits, and unofficial re-touches, what’s another track between good friends?

Well, for anyone interested, their joint catalog entends as far back as eight years ago with “In Your Wake” and “Drop Our Hearts” (2014), “Painted White” and “Falling In” (2015), “Rush Over Me” with Seven Lions (2016), “Where’d You Go” (2017) and it’s VIP with 1788-L, “Sound of Where’d You Go” (2018), “Sad Songs” (2019), “Crazy Times” and “I See You” (2021).

Said The Sky’s Sentiment LP is due out next Friday, February 18. The release will mark the artist’s first full-length release since 2019’s Wide-Eyed, which Christiansen admits he “didn’t try anything crazy” or “take any risks.” He says his second album reflects a new changed perspective and completely inspired approach in the studio.
