Phantogram returns with first single in over three years, announces 2019 tour
Electronic/rock crossover duo Phantogram hasn’t released music in years and for good reason. Their third studio album, Three, was a painful ode to singer Sarah Barthel’s sister’s suicide. The pair has done a lot of repairing and healing in the time since and now they’ve unveiled their newest single, “Into Happiness,” out now on Republic Records.
The track carries a lot of weight since the joyful lyrics point to overcoming depression, although the composition itself is eerily ghostly and more pop-driven than their previous catalogue. The track, according to Phantogram, “embodies the personal journey that both of us have taken since we released Three — it’s been a long path, coming out of darkness and into the light.”
In light of the group’s personal and creative growth, Phantogram has also confirmed a 27-date North American tour alongside Bob Moses. The tour kicks off June 2 and hits nearly every major US music market through September. Tickets can be purchased on Phantogram’s tour page.
