Swedish House Mafia released their first single 9 years ago today
Before the days of break-through radio waves hits “Save The World” and “Don’t You Worry Child,” Swedish House Mafia kickstarted their journey into superstardom with the debut single, “One (Your Name).” The song debuted on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe and was chosen as the hottest record in April 2010 before its official lyrical release in July 2010. The title would later appear on the trio’s mix album, Until One, and their studio album, Until Now.
With vocal credits by none other than Pharrell Williams, the song was originally recorded in Australia over a year before it’s initial release and was originally intended to outfit another track from the trio.
“We took that and tried it on ‘One’ and it worked,” said Steve Angello of the track. “Well, it worked after Axwell melodyne’d the crap out of it! … it’s kind of old school, chopping one vocal and turning it into a whole dance track.”
Nowadays, Swedish House Mafia is currently on their global Save the World reunion tour, which kicked off in May, and has signed with Columbia Records on a forthcoming album.
