Illenium releases ‘Blood’ with Foy Vance + full ‘Ascend’ tracklist
Only two weeks remain until Illenium fans get to Ascend. Now Denver-based producer Nick Miller has released another inspired single under his melodic bass stamp, Illenium. The track, “Blood” with Foy Vance, lands as the fourth single from his highly anticipated third studio album, Ascend, due out August 16 on Astralwerks. Illenium previously gave fans a small taste of the incoming LP, first with the Bahari-assisted “Crashing,” then with “Good Things Fall Apart,” featuring Jon Bellion, and a high-profile collaboration with The Chainsmokers, “Takeaway.”
“Blood” seems to play on Illenium’s love of heavier dubstep, yet stays true to his melodic expertise in the studio. As his sound has evolved over the years toward more lyrically driven compositions than in his heavily instrumental early days, Ilenium’s signature soundscape is still present on “Blood.” The track combines Miller’s beautiful melodies with a deeper baseline and a heavy drop — it’s truly the best of both worlds. Foy Vance’s heartfelt vocals also do a superb job of portraying Miller’s message and the mood that accompanies it. The message that is being sent from Illenium to his beloved fanbase is that they are not just fans. To him, they are more like family. They’re blood.
The release comes paired with the official tracklist to Illenium’s Ascend LP, which continues his trend heavily lyrical. Of the album’s 17 tracks, only one is a purely instrumental track, “Take You Down,” with an instrumental intro and prelude. A whole new cast of vocalists arrives on the forthcoming album, along with two new tracks alongside past collaborators Echos and Annika Wells.
