MUST LISTEN: GRiZ gets down on ‘Bangers[2].Zip’ EP via Deadbeats

GRiZ has blessed the masses with another EP touting new sounds for those with more heavily-leaning pallets. Just last week, the Boulder-based future funkmaster teased the release of his Bangers[2].zip EP, a three-track project meant to follow up on his Bangers[1].zip EP. Now the project sees its wide release on Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats. 

The playfully raunchy short form begins strong with the fan-favorite opener, “Griztronics,” a highly-anticipated collaboration with Subtronics, who debuted the track at Electric Forest. The EP’s closing track, “Push The Vibe,” provides the perfect bookend to the wub-laden monstrosity, with its glaring electro builds and hybrid glitch-hop drops. Sandwiched between the two is “Freak The Method,” a genre-blurring track that calls up GRiZ’s expert ability to fuse smooth, melodically-driven electro-funk with hard, face-curling dubstep.

GRiZ has recently set off on phase two of his massive Ride Waves tour, which sees the saxophone-touting producer at 515 Alive, Austin City Limits, and a very special three-night Denver run at the Fillmore and Red Rocks doubleheader, which he alluded to as his very last performance at the iconic outdoor venue.
