Remix Radar 003: Midnight Kids remixes San Holo, Nicky Romero shines new light on Armin & Ne-Yo, plus shining new takes on Cassian, NERVO, Tiësto, and more
The mark of any great dance music remix rests in an artist’s ability to put their own stamp on a favorite tune, all the while leaving the original recognizably in-tact. Whether it’s a producer whose given the enviable task of official remix duties or a newcomer striving to leave their footprint on a great artist’s hallmark track, good remixes are virtually everywhere. Great remixes, however, happen in the magical moment that a remixer finds that sweet spot in the studio. That’s why CE has scoured the interwebs in search of the latest and greatest remixes — all wrapped into one easy-listening playlist. This is the Remix Radar.
We’ve noticed so many new remixes this week that they were all begging for their very own playlist. Therefore, we’ve gathered up the Top Ten in this week’s Remix Radar. This third edition has some big names remixing big names, including RÜFÜS DU SOL’s extended remix of UK indie rock band Foals, Nicky Romero putting his spin on Armin and Ne-Yo’s high-profile collaboration, “Unlove You,” and Cassian‘s take of Yotto‘s “Nova.” Not to mention, San Holo‘s “Right Here Right Now” received a remix from Midnight Kids provides a nice launching point on the mix.
Also, more big names received a few notable remixes from some notable newcomers. From Mystery Jack‘s remix of NERVO, Toby Green‘s take on Tiësto, and Tom Falls‘ re-rendering of Morgan Page and HAILENE, these are a few rising acts you’ll want to keep an eye on. But the standout in this category goes to Last Heroes‘ subtle touch-up of Above & Beyond and Seven Lions’ highly-anticipated collaboration.
To top things off, Solardo released a new remix of “Ti Chuong” and Joel Curry puts his footprints on Icona Pop‘s “Next Mistake” as apart of an entire remix pack.
