Zeds Dead and Subtronics release ‘Bumpy Teeth’ in the dead of night
In what very well might be the biggest collaboration of the year, Deadbeats dons Zeds Dead have teamed up with the break out dance music act of the year, Subtronics. They’ve been teasing the single over the past week. Tonight, in the wee hours of the morning, the Canadian power-duo released “Bumpy Teeth.” The joint effort arrives as the second single from Zeds Dead’s forthcoming WE ARE DEADBEATS, Vol. 4 compilation.
Each artists’ markings on the track are clearly evident. With heavy builds, subtle jungle elements, and paralyzing drops from Subtronics, and the smoothed out progressions, jaunting house beats, and jugular synths care of Zeds Dead, the track is a match made in bass music heaven. There’s even clear DnB influences, which is telling of a common theme for the soon-to-come Deadbeats compilation.
On one hand, the track boasts clear Subtronics (read: SubCarbon) influences, with subdued heaviness and heavily-laced riddim tempos. On the other, it shows how Deadbeats has their finger on the pulse of heavy “big room” bass—that is, Subtronics’ sound.
One last release for 2019!
