Lee Reynolds and Memo Rex share second release in ‘Road to Desert Hearts’ EP series, ‘Long Weekend’
The Road to Desert Hearts EP series trudges on as the collective’s landmark festival gathering draws closer. Previously, Desert Hearts co-founder Porky and Mitch Dodge delivered their short, sweet, and effective two-tracker Chameleon EP. Now another founding father, “Papa” Lee Reynolds, has paired up with another label favorite, Memo Rex, on the second short player, dubbed Long Weekend.
The three-track EP goes hard in the paint with acidic tones, deep squelches, bouncy percussion, and classic warehouse appeal. From the title track’s ode to acid house to the heady groove, “Enjoy,” and the atmospheric Delos-assisted track, “Alive Again,” the offering is well intentioned and incredibly danceable. Above all, the duetted project is tinged with Desert Hearts’ quirky, eccentric, and fun-loving vibes.
The Road to Desert Hearts concludes with new EPs from Mikey Lion and Marbs over March. Desert Hearts Festival takes place the following month, April 23-27, at Purchase tickets here.
