FuntCase’s ‘DPMO Vol. 3’ compilation on Circus Records is a pipeline for untapped riddim talent

Friday the 13th may be unlucky for some, superstitious for many. As far as FuntCase is concerned, three is the magic number. The English dubstep and drum-n-bass veteran now presents the third volume of his DPMO project. Out now on Circus Records, the compilation now clocks in at 22 tracks.

Fall 2017 saw the first juggernaut of a compilation pull up, helping deliver some early career starts for the likes of Phiso, Flakzz, Definitive, Jkyl & Hyde, SweetTooth, and more. In fact, this is a collection of artists who’ve gone on to become omnipresent across North American dance floors and have become the leading names in riddim.

Over the 18 month gap since the last DPMO selection was served up, there has been much movement in the world of DPMO: From global DPMO tours, to the launch of the DPMO fashion brand, to around 5 million Spotify streams. Not bad for a project set up by FuntCase to create a pipeline for untapped talent that he was playing in his sets. With a kind of label-power pull, one wouldn’t be too unjustified in predicting the start of something new here.

As for DPMO Volume 3, the fully-realized album comes with an onslaught of filthy, bass heavy weapons. From the massively supported scene buzz track, “Welcome Tune” from Versa, to the killer collaboration between FuntCase and Ravachol, “Wasteman,” to the return outings of Boss Mode and MVRDA, and some first-time appearances from GLD, Decimate, Yakz, and Whales, DPMO goes hard in the paint.
