UMF and SiriusXM partner to bring fans Ultra Virtual Audio Festival

Ultra fans were heartbroken earlier this month when the Miami-based festival was forced by local officials to call off their 2020 return to Bayfront Park amid coronavirus spread. When Ultra Music Festival (UMF) came out and said would-be attendees were not receiving monetary refunds, that heartbreak turned to anger. However, now organizers are not only attempting to absolve their fanbase’s frustrations by announcing the Ultra Virtual Audio Festival. They are hoping to encourage social distancing, as recommended by the CDC and WHO.

“With the postponement of beloved events, necessary changes in people’s everyday life, and need for social distancing, we know our listeners are seeking a sense of community more than ever,” explains SiriusXM president and CCO, Scott Greenstein, on the nature of the partnership. “To encourage that, we are pleased to be working with Ultra Music Festival to provide our listeners with this virtual audio festival featuring the diverse lineup of artists the UMF delivers year after year, as well as exclusive, fresh, new sets from some of the biggest names in dance music.”

The online festival, in partnership with Sirius XM, will take place on UMF Radio beginning Friday, March 20, at 5pm through Monday, March 23. Ultra will be broadcasting exclusive live performances from the likes of Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Major LazerAbove & Beyond, and many more notable acts. The limited-run channel will also highlight past live DJ sets from previously recorded Ultra performances from the likes of KygoThe Chainsmokers, marshmelloZedd, and Carl Cox.

For the past 15 years, SiriusXM has broadcasted live from Ultra Music Festival. UMF Radio is also a weekly show on the SiriusXM satellite channel, Diplo‘s Revolution (Channel 52). The two-hour weekly show features a mix of the industry’s most prominent and up-and-coming artists. UMF Radio airs every Saturday night from 6 – 8pm ET.
