The mark of any great dance music remix rests in an artist’s ability to put their own stamp on a favorite tune, all the while leaving the original recognizably in-tact. Whether it’s a producer whose given the enviable task of official remix duties or a newcomer striving to leave their footprint on a great artist’s hallmark track, good remixes are virtually everywhere. Great remixes, however, happen in the magical moment that a remixer finds that sweet spot in the studio. That’s why CE has scoured the interwebs in search of the latest and greatest remixes — all wrapped into one easy-listening playlist. This is the Remix Radar.
We’ve gathered up the hottest remixes over the past few weeks, along with some of our personal favorites, for the next Remix Radar. In this month’s edition, Sofi Tukker tapped Vini Vici and WHITENO1SE to remix “Swing,” deadmau5 enlisted mau5trap artist Sian for an official retouch of “Satrn,” and Midnight Kids took on San Holo’s recent hit, “Honest.”
Slander and Said The Sky released a massive remix package for their most recent hit track, “Potions,” and we’ve highlighted William Black’s gorgeous touch-up. MitiS also released a remix pack for his RUNN-assisted single, “Shattered,” with a standout cut from Culture Code.
In the way of big-name remixes mixing big-name artists, NGHTMRE has remixed Cheat Codes’ “No Service in the Hills,” Oliver Heldens remixed Justin Timberlake and SZA’s “The Other Side,” Destructo remixed Idris Elba’s “Ballie,” and Major Lazer remixed The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.”
Other notable remixes from promising rising acts come in the form of Niit Gritti’s remix of Ekali and Illenium’s “Hard To Say Goodbye,” QUIX’s remix of Alison Wonderland’s “Happy Place,” 1788-L’s remix of Madeon’s “All My Friends,” and LICK’s remix of JVNA’s “Catch Me.”
