EASTGHOST returns to bitbird on dual single release, ‘Sunshine’ and ‘Tomorrow’

One year has passed since Portland-based producer EASTGHOST released his full-length debut album, Misery and Wonder. At the time, the LP served as creative therapy to him in a difficult time. EASTGHOST has now returned to San Holo‘s esteemed label, bitbird, with another experimental and emotional release. An A-side/B-side single called “Sunshine” and “Tomorrow.”

After the release of his album, EASTGHOST once again faced some great challenges, resulting in a treacherous time in which music became a catharsis for him which overcame any feelings to release or rush anything. After some time, the projects started coming together and formed EASGHOST’s most sincere and interesting work to date, taking the listener on a journey of emotional challenge and healing.

“These songs were like therapy to write. It took me a long time to piece together,” EASGHOST shares on the inspiration behind the release, “I didn’t rush, and I came out of it with something I’m very happy with. I think it expands upon a lot of the same sort of ‘world-building’ that I established with Misery & Wonder. I consider it an extension of those themes and the beginning of a new era in my life and in this project.”

EASTGHOST first made his debut on bitbird in 2016 with a hauntingly vocal-layered single “Exile.” Since then, the producer has been busy releasing music both independently and with contributions to bitbird such as “Twenty Second Century” and through the Gouldian Finch compilations. He says he’s is looking forward to continuing his tour with Minnesota as soon as possible. In the meantime, fans can expect a lot more world-building music from EASTGHOST this year.
