Rave Family announces Electric Blockaloo with first phase line-up: Diplo, ZHU, Lane 8, and many more
As the COVID-19 crisis continues, artists and production companies have ramped up their efforts to produce events that can be enjoyed from the comfort of home. Only very recently, online events consisted mostly of DJs streaming from webcams in their rooms, and within that short period of time, pioneers of this new culture have shifted to having events entirely inside digital spaces. With the unveiling of a massive stage lineup for their weekend-long festival happening in Minecraft, Rave Family is poised to make an enormous pixelated splash in the streaming scene.
Taking place from June 25-28, Electric Blockaloo will feature over 300 artists slated to play across 30 stages in the digital realm. Though a full artist lineup is yet to come, the artists and collectives that have been announced so far offer a dizzying array of styles and genres. Diplo, ZHU, GriZ, Lane 8, A-Trak, Space Jesus, and TOKiMONSTA will be curating stages, along with many other industry heavyweights.
The world of Electric Blockaloo will feature recreations of Red Rocks (affectionately styled as Red Blocks,) the Gorge, and more. Dirtybird Campout will even feature a complete reproduction with their famous interactive camp games. Attendees of the festival will be able to explore the world, discover prizes and easter eggs, and dance together in the virtual realm.
Jackie McGuire, founder of Rave Family, went into more depth explaining the goals of the event. “Electric Blockaloo is a place where artists and fans can come together, create shared musical experiences, and reconnect with each other in an immersive way.”
“It’s also much more environmentally friendly than traditional festivals, and a portion of each ticket will help support Bye Bye Plastic, an amazing organization that aims to eliminate single-use plastic from music festivals by 2025.”
As the live-music landscape evolves with astonishing speed, companies like Rave Family are leading the way with providing exciting new spaces for fans to enjoy music together. They will also be producing digital events with Mad Decent, 100 Gecs and more in the future. More information can be found at Electric Blockaloo’s website.
