Beyond appearing on Zeds Dead’s We Are Deadbeats Vol. 4 compilation, Ganja White Night (GWN) has been relatively quiet over quarantine. Of course, the Belgium-natives had previously been on line-ups like Bass Canyon and Bonnaroo, both of which still hang in the balance. Now the duo returns with a label compilation from their esteemed imprint SubCarbon Records, titled Loud Speaker Vol 2. The compilation signals an explosion of heavy tunes from Dirt Monkey, The Widdler, Psymbionic, Ternion Sound, Bukez Finest, and the Ganja White Night guys themselves.
From the ragga/jungle flair and dusty dub vibes of The Widdler’s “Vibes” to the minimal low-tempo of Ternion Sound’s “Flex Technique” to the OG dubstep vibe and highly textured sounds of Psymbionic’s “Bonkers,” the entire compilation showcases past and future bass acts on the budding label. Breakout acts on the EP include Alex Kennedy’s Brainrack project with “Burn It Up,” along with Charlotte-based underground newcomer Sean Bannard (aka Devious) who brings his hybrid heat on “Manifest.”
The EP also includes a VIP of GWN’s “Ferity” as well as previously released tracks from Blunts & Blondes, Notixx, Matt Doe, and more. The whopping 19-track LP showcases what SubCarbon has been doing during COVID-19 while showcasing the future direction of the label. Listen below.
