Gorillaz launch #BeTheChange initiative in support of Black Lives Matter
Following the music industry’s Black Out Tuesday event to unify and stand for racial justice, Gorillaz has launched a brand new initiative, #BeTheChange, in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The initiative aims at being a comprehensive source for learning and research about systemic racism, identity, power, and privilege.
Beyond being a resource guide filled with learning material from podcasts, articles, books, films, and shows, the initiative ventures to encourage action by including ways to mobilize for change. At the bottom, people can see where to donate, which petitions to sign, a useful guide to protest tips, and social handles to follow.
The UK virtual band has also added exclusive #BeTheChange merchandise to their online store. All proceeds of merchandise purchases will go towards London-based black history education charity, The Black Curriculum. Gorillaz will continue to update the page with new resources.
