Tame Impala has become a true force-to-be-reckoned-with the world over, and for good reason. Hit after hit, and a slew of performances at major festivals from Lollapalooza to Coachella, the Australian psychedelic rock group has solidified their top-tier status even deeper with their most recent album, The Slow Rush. Kevin Parker, the multi-instrumental musician who spearheads the project, has recently showcased an acoustic version of one of the album’s hit songs for fans.
The new video’s soft ’70s aesthetic, set in a modest, bare-bones studio with antique instruments, fits in perfectly with the song’s nostalgic allure and allows the stripped-back version to shine brighter. Parker’s colorful vocals and accompanying melancholic acoustic guitar strumming make this version of the song all the more beautiful—albeit in a must different way when places against the original. Watch the full acoustic and studio-mastered versions against each other, and be prepared for an onslaught of emotions.
