Here at Conscious Electronic, we love all things bass — breakbeat, downtempo, left-field, experimental, dubstep in all its forms, you name it. As the underground bass movement has begun its full ascendancy in the US, we’ve been keeping a finger on the pulse of up-and-coming bass artists the country over. As such, CE’s Rising Bass Spotlight seeks to shine a light onto the rising producers who’re honing their craft, galvanizing their movements, and attuning eyes, ears, heads, and bodies into all things low end.
As one of the promising new artists releasing under the Mean Mug stamp, NotLö has been making waves. The underground bass producer is a female force-to-be-reckoned-with straight out of the Mile High City. She’s worked with Wreckno, Josh Teed, and more, and has released with a 40oz Collective, Headbang Society, and The Untz, making her the perfect inclusion for the next featurette on CE‘s Rising Bass Spotlight.
Coming off her recently-released Evolve EP, NotLö recently teamed up with Aftershock and RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, to bring a very special underground bass live stream event to the internet waves. Dubbed “NotLö N’ Friends,” the one-night-only event was curated by NotLö herself and will be hosted on AfterShock’s Twitch channel.
The night boasted performances from Risik, DRTY HBTZ, A Hundred Drums, Khiva, Notlö, and Mad Pritch. The night’s live visuals also featured art from an all-female cast, including VJ Kobra, VJ T, Kelly Finn, Taylor Drew Conti and Pixel Dust. All proceeds from the event benefited RAINN, which is a keen charity pick given the current climate of the dance music industry as of late.
“These producers and artists are next-level talented, and this stream is all about positivity and showcasing some badass female DJs and VJs, as well as raising awareness and fundraising for an incredible organization,” said a spokesperson from NotLö’s camp.
RAINN partners with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. More info can be found on their website.
