The storied sunrise set never ceases to take one’s breathe away. From CloZee’s Costa Rica performance at Envision, to Tycho’s annual Burning Man displays in the Nevadan desert, to Ben Böhmer’s recent Cercle set from a hot air balloon in Turkey, hedonistic festival goers are always washed away by the sunrise set’s staggering beauty and awe-inspiring present moment. Now This Never Happened founder Lane 8 joins the venerated list of notorious sunrise performers Just one week after the arrival of his collaborative label project, Cross Pollination.
The San Francisco-based artist took to Colorado’s Grand Lake for two complete hours of melodic selections as the sun began peeking over the Rocky Mountain backdrop. Running through 28 specially-selected tunes, Lane 8’s set toted numerous upcoming label IDs along with recent Cross Pollination releases from “Buggy” with Yotto, “Shatter” with OTR, and “And We Knew It Was Our Time” with Massane. The result of the extended sonic journey was a happy Lane 8 who has never looked like he enjoyed a set so much.
