Pre-order Without End here.
Since 2005, Alix Perez has been pioneering the underground drum & bass scene. Born Alix Depauw in Begium, he’s most recently known for his darker SHADES project alongside EPROM, whereby the two dole out distorted low-end bass. The experimental bass legend is gearing up for his highly-anticipated mini-LP, Without End, which will land on his very own independent imprint, 1985 Music. Shifting back to his celebrated D&B style, Alix Perez now presents the first stunning slice of the project, “Lost & Proud,” featuring a signature soulful vocal from Liam Bailey.
The track stands as a quintessential drum-n-bass record. Equipped with smooth piano chords, 160 bpm tempos, atmospheric pads, and Bailey’s soulful lyricism, “Lost & Proud” make for one smooth-sailing ride that is perfect for relaxing while maintaining a higher heart rate. Blending ambient electronica, breaks, chillout, and soul into, this is the perfect example of what some in the genre have come to call “intelligent DnB.” It’s also the perfect taste of what is to come on the forthcoming project, which does not yet have a release at this point. Knowing Perez, though, the project will arrive at the most unlikely time.
