Lane 8’s first release of 2021 taps Julia Church for benevolent single, ‘Oh, Miles’
Almost like clockwork, Lane 8 (real name Daniel Goldstein) seems to consistently have the best-year-ever. The Bay Area house mogul’s January 2020 released Brightest Lights LP made CE‘s Top Albums of 2020 list, along with his vibrant official remix of CloZee’s “Neon Jungle” on our Top Remixes of the Year. Now Goldstein is looking forward with his first official release of the year, “Oh, Miles,” out now on his very own imprint, This Never Happened. The track, which features rising South African vocalist Julia Church, was debuted on Lane 8’s Winter 2020 mixtape last month.
As one of the countless untold IDs in the two-and-a-half-hour mixtape, “Oh, Miles” is sure to be considered the next Lane 8 anthem. Church’s soft, serene vocals provide the perfect touch for Lane 8’s signature sonic stamp as her symbolic lyrics float effortlessly atop Goldstein’s organic textures, energizing tempos, and organ-guided builds.
