Excision and Sullivan King join forces on third collaboration, ‘Unbound’
Like a match made in headbanger heaven, dubstep heavyweights Excision and Sullivan King have put their heads together once again for another certifiable banger. One part carefully-crafted anticipation building, two parts absolute insanity, “Unbound” is a unique track that rejects traditional songwriting standards, getting away with it and then some. Adorning the composition with his vocals, the west coast metalhead, beloved as “Sully,” shows his softer side for the melodic buildup that continues for half of the track. Before long, “Unbound” unleashes a mindblowing drop care of Excision, unapologetically reminding listeners of the Canadian bass virtuoso’s sheer musical strength.
“Unbound” is accompanied by an instrumental version, released via Excision’s imprint, Subsidia Records. Marking the two artists’ third collaboration together, the single follows their joint efforts on “Wake Up” and “Fight Through the Pain” which both appeared on Excision’s 2018 studio album Apex. While still in the upward journey toward mainstream popularity, Sullivan King has managed to amass a cult following with his genre-fusing, heavy-hitting style and zany personality, demonstrated in a series of amusing Twitter posts leading up the latest release. Additional previous collaborators include Slander, Kayzo, Kill the Noise, and Wooli, as well as several features on the ubiquitous electronic label Monstercat.
