Hot on the heels of an overdue Four Tet collaboration last week, Sonny Moore (aka Skrillex) is back like the flash. Moore, who is raising eyebrows as to whether he’s got a new album in the works, is at least signaling a comeback streak. The series of high-powered releases have already generated millions of plays worldwide and are beginning to stir the rumor pot surrounding the legendary dubstep pioneer once more. Now Skrillex introduces “Too Bizarre” onto the popular imagination, with vocal contributions from the Grammy-nominated rapper Swae Lee and Caroline Miner Smith, better known as Siiickbrain.
The song is built over a grungy beat as Skrillex takes to the bass guitar with some gnarly riffs, while Swae Lee takes the lyrical lead on the record. As Lee delivers a couple of catchy verses, Siiickbrain introduced to the single with some scream duties during the hook. All in all, “Too Bizarre” is in line with Skrillex’s move away from electronic in recent times as he ventures, as both collaborative artist and producer on others’ tracks, into just about every other genre under the sun.
What is most refreshing here, though, is how Skrillex makes a slight nod to his older grungy, emo roots in the song and accompanying video. Watch the official music video for Skrillex’s newest collaborative single, “Too Bizarre,” below.
