After much turmoil surrounding the local politics around Indio, California, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is coming back next year for its first edition since 2019. After much deliberation and replanning, the Goldenvoice-run mega-festival will now run on the weekends of April 15-17 and 22-24 in 2022.
In March of last year, Coachella 2020 was postponed from its original dates in April to October 2020 due to concerns about the coronavirus. That June, it was canceled outright for the first time in 20 years. Earlier this year, Coachella 2021 was canceled by the public health officer in Riverside County after being rescheduled for April 9-11 and 16-18, 2021.
Coachella 2020 was originally slated to feature Frank Ocean, Rage Against the Machine, and Travis Scott as headliners, with a full lineup including Lana Del Rey, Lil Uzi Vert, Thom Yorke, Run the Jewels, Danny Elfman, FKA twigs, DaBaby, 21 Savage, Caribou, Lil Nas X, and more. No word has been given as to whether the same artists will return in 2022.
Pre-sale tickets for Coachella 2022 will be available on Friday, June 4, at 10am PT for those who register for Advanced Access via their website. Codes will be distributed via SMS and email to those who sign up at 8am PT that morning and they will be valid until the public sale begins at 2pm PT later that same day.
