Rising Bass Spotlight: Redrum expands on her SSKWAN debut with elevating new single, ‘Floating’

Here at Conscious Electronic, we love all things bass — breakbeat, downtempo, left-field, experimental, dubstep in all its forms, you name it. As the underground bass movement has begun its full ascendancy in the US, we’ve been keeping a finger on the pulse of up-and-coming bass artists the country over. As such, CE’Rising Bass Spotlight seeks to shine a light onto the rising producers who’re honing their craft, galvanizing their movements, and attuning eyes, ears, heads, and bodies into all things low end.

Tatiana Tindall was born into her love of music with a father who was a composer, musician, and DJ. As a child, the Portland native found meaning in dance, and while she loved music, Tindall was unsure about finding a career there until her teenage years. Then at age 17, Tindall was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and was forced to quit dancing due to bone and muscle damage sustained from chemotherapy. Distraught and depressed, she sought and found a new creative outlet in music production: Redrum.

She recently gained the attention of Wakaan boss Liquid Stranger, whose team has been effectively putting her on the map. This summer, her debut EP is slated for release on Wakaan’s sister label and it’s been gradually rolling out over the past month. Armed with a talent that is obvious and ever-growing, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to include the SSKWAN newcomer in our Rising Bass Spotlight series. She’s in great company on the list too—with other female producers Sylph, sharlitz web, Zingara, Canvas, NotLö, and more—as women have absolutely been dominating CE‘s series as of late.

Last month, Redrum enthralled the dance community with “Phases,” a charming bass spell that marked her explosive SSKWAN debut. Continuing to hex listeners leading up to her full Pisces Moon EP, Redrum now returns with “Floating,” the second and final single to land before her forthcoming four-track EP, scheduled for release later this summer.

Prepare for Redrum to send you into the stars in complete reverie on this soothing downtempo selection. Laced with ethereal vocals, hypnotic melodies, and dreamy soundscapes, “Floating” will make you feel you’re doing just that. “Floating” closely follows the Supreme Witch’s enchanting Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival performance in Orlando. With another performance coming up in August at Kosmic Kingdom, Redrum is proving that 2021 is the year of the witch.

Inspired by Stephen King’s concept of The Shining, the Portland-based artist curates bewitching music to help her listeners find their inner magic. Redrum’s ethereal soundscapes are featured on Subsidia’s Dawn: Vol. 2 and Electric Hawk’s In Unity compilation albums.

She has captivated in-home crowds on lineups including Electric Hawk’s Harmony Virtual Music Festival and In Unity Livestream, Wormhole Entertainment’s weekly Wormhole Wednesday, and Nova Lotus Music’s NovaVita live stream. A newcomer who is quickly gaining notoriety in the bass music community, Redrum is our next focal as a rising bass star.

Redrum’s forthcoming EP on Liquid Stranger’s SSKWAN label is set to enchant the masses this summer. 2021 is the year of the witch, that witch is called Redrum, and she’s joined a highly talented pack as our next Rising Bass Spotlight featurette.
