Sitting on the brink of releasing his fourth studio album, Fallen Embers, Denver-based sad boy pioneer Illenium comes into full focus with the LP’s sixth and final single, titled “Heavenly Side.” He’s enlisted Matt Maeson for vocal duties on the track, with the full LP landing on 12Tone Music next week.
“Heavenly Side” is all about overcoming one’s inner darkness, reemerging with a new self much like the phoenix, and reaching up towards our higher selves. Illenium says the track is a bonus reward as a thank you for the LP passing 10,000 album pre-saves. Calling it one of his “favorite tracks” from Fallen Embers, Illenium utilizes his expansive drum work, addicting melodies, and his signature emo-rock infused melodic bass sound. It’s a quintessential sad boy anthem in the making, just begging to be belted at full volume during Illenium’s live sets.
In fact, Illenium: played “Heavenly Side” during his Fallen Embers arena kick-off party inside Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium this past Friday, July 3.
“Heavenly Side” follows up “First Time” alongside iann dior, “Sideways” with Valerie Broussard and Nurko, “Nightlight” featuring Annika Wells, “Hearts on Fire” with former live bandmate Dabin and top EDM vocalist Lights, and “Paper Thin” with Angels & Airwaves’ Tom DeLonge. Explore the LP’s full tracklist and list of collaborators before Fallen Embers is out in full next Friday, July 16.
