Manic Focus and ProbCause combine talents on fresh hip-hop tune that is nothing short of ‘Magic’
From fast-paced, melodic grooves to downtempo dub, Manic Focus has always brought his fresh electronic waveforms to energize and excite the masses. As the alias of John “JmaC” McCarten, the Twin Cities native is highly respected in the realm of future funk and electro-soul. He now brings one of his favorite collaborators and close friends, Chicago’s premiere word smith ProbCause, back into his studio for a track that is nothing short of “Magic.”
The track follows the pair’s previously collaborative joints, including 2014’s “Trail Blazin’,” 2017’s “Putting On All Of My People,” their 2020 mega-collab with Marvel Years, Artifakts, Kill Paris, SoDown, Break Science, Dirtwire, and Daily Bread, “Friends.” Clocking in at just over three minutes in length, “Magic” comes ripe with complex, original melodies, fresh rap verses care of ProbCause, and pulsating bass lines. The result is a tune that begs its listeners to get down and boogie on the dancefloor.
Speaking to the collaborative effort, Manic Focus talks of ProbCause in high regard:
“Prob was one of the first artists I met and worked with when I first moved to Chicago in 2010, and to this day is one of the most talented, authentic, and inspiring artists I’ve ever met. Both sonically and visually, his ability to illustrate the beauty in this chaotic world is truly magical.”
– John “JmaC” McCarten
Manic Focus’ discography spans a wide range of genres, appealing to an incredibly wide audience, and getting people from a variety of backgrounds to groove to one rhythm. But this newest ProbCause-assisted number raises the bar in terms of bringing purely unadulterated, funk-fueled “Magic” to the table.
